Wireless Phone Headsets
When choosing a wireless phone headset, carefully evaluate comfort and voice clarity. A listening-volume control and a mike mute may also be vital features for you. Wireless phone headsets range from under $20 to $50. Make sure the headset you choose is compatible with the cell phone you have. Most phones have a standard 2.5-mm stereo plug for a headset, but if yours does not, an adapter, if not included with your phone purchase, can add about $8 to the price of a headset.
Units with earbud earpieces, made of moldable gel, are easy to put in the ear and remove one-handed; the collar mike clips to your shirt or jacket. Jabra makes a light, compact earbud-and-mike-in-one with no dangling microphone. An over-ear earpiece with boom mike is somewhat less comfortable than an earbud, although it can be reversed for use on either the right or left ear. The over-head earpiece with boom mike, with its test-pilot look, is probably the least comfortable, but still an economical choice. Major manufacturers of quality headsets include RadioShack, Plantronics, GE/Sanyo, and Jabra.

Exploring Wireless Phone History will give you an appreciation of the dynamic forces that built cell phone infrastructure. You'll understand why the pace of technological change is so fast now, even though it took quite a long time to get us here. Many conflicting reports have focused on the issue of Wireless Phone Radiation. Did you know that you come in daily contact with hundreds of devices that emit radiation frequencies? (Computers, microwave ovens, and radio stations, just to name a few.)
